glascad™ is the brainchild of Wayne Day, owner of Architectural Communication and Design, an industry leader in glass & glazing shop drawings for over 40 years.

Wayne has built a business based on the necessity of shop drawings in the architectural fenestration industry and the reality that such drawings had to be created by skilled drafters using sophisticated and expensive CAD software.

Over time, as technology has benefited and permeated every aspect of business and our daily lives, Wayne wondered, “Why haven’t shop drawings evolved with technology?” glascad™ is the answer to this important question.

✧ What if the software was intuitive and easy to use like an app on your phone?

✧ What if the output of the software could be saved and shared in the cloud or exported to your format of choice?

✧ What if we could decouple aluminum parts from the rigid DWG format and display them as dynamically configured vector images in the browser?

And most importantly...

✧ What if we could evolve this software over time into a complete solution for the glass and glazing industry. Estimating, shop drawings and optimization.

how we did it
where are we going

The glascad™ team is comprised of experts in the glass and glazing, architecture, and software industries. This team challenged the notion that shop drawings and CAD were intertwined and couldn’t be decoupled. What we are prepared to bring to market is a solution that produces the same output as traditional CAD software, at a fraction of the cost and in a fraction of the time.

The phased launch of our product will begin with capabilities that meet the shop drawing needs of small commercial glazier. Initial support for simple storefront projects, will be followed by expanding our catalog of supported aluminum systems into curtainwall, all-glass, windows, sliding doors, louvers, sunshades, hollow metal, etc.

Estimating and optimization capabilities will come online once sufficient coverage of manufacturer and system types are established. While our long term goal is a total CAD replacement, we feel that a rolled out approached with incremental sophistication is a better solution for us and for you.
